On October 18, 2023, over 600 8th grade students visited the Career Center to discover if Career-Tech Education (CTE) is something that might interest them in the future. This process began in September, with the middle school counselors sending requests for students to review program videos and select the four programs that they were most in interested in learning more about. During their visit, students were able to spend time in each of their four chosen programs, getting involved with hands-on activities led by the students.
At the conclusion of their visit, students were asked to complete a brief survey asking:
1.) How did you like todayβs visit? β 54% said it was βAwesomeβ; 45% said it was βPretty Goodβ; 1% said they βDidnβt Like Itβ.
2.) Would you consider attending the Career Center when you are in high school? β 47% said βYesβ; 45% said βMaybeβ; 8% said βNoβ.
This event allows younger students to explore potential career and college pathways before entering high school, providing an opportunity to learn more about their own interests and what they might like to do in the future, ultimately asking themselves, βIs CTE for me?β.
