Cosmetology
Instructors: Molly Shea & Kelly Ferguson
Students in this program use professional salon techniques to provide a full range of hair, nail and skincare services. Students will work alongside professional cosmetologists to explore all aspects of quality salon services and management.
Curriculum Focus:
• Anatomy, physiology and bacteriology
• Orientation to the cosmetology profession
• Infection control
• Hair cutting and styling
• Hair coloring and highlighting
• Manicure and pedicure skills
• Facial services
• Reception duties
• Salon operations
Students prepare for their State of Ohio Board of Cosmetology license. After obtaining their license students will be prepared for immediate employment and are prepared to pursue higher education.
Students must be full-time at Heartland Tech. Attendance history will be reviewed prior to placement into the program.
Suggested credits earned prior to junior year for this program are:

CERTIFICATIONS
State Board of Cosmetology (12 points)
Student must complete 1,500 hours of study in this program/field to meet the eligibility requirements for the Ohio State Licensing examination.
Students may qualify for articulation college credit and the Tuition Freedom Scholarship at North Central State College.
