Career Based Intervention (CBI)

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This program is designed to support sophomore students who have an interest in career technical education, and are in need of a high school experience, different from the traditional classroom.
• Take four core classes in a traditional classroom setting
• Take one employability class
• Have one period per day for online credit recovery (if needed)
• Spend one period per day in a career-tech lab
• Observe and/or participate in four different career-tech programs throughout the year, giving you the opportunity to choose the right program for you as a junior
• Have priority scheduling your junior year

WHO SHOULD APPLY
• Going to be a sophomore
• Interested in a career-technical program
• Unsure which career-tech program you would like to pursue
• Unsure if you will have enough credits to participate in a career-tech program as a junior

QUALIFYING FOR THIS PROGRAM
• Be a sophomore
• Identified as either academically disadvantaged, economically disadvantaged, or both, or be a student with a disability who faces barriers to career success.
- Academically disadvantaged students may score below the 25th percentile on a
standardized test, have grades below a 2.0 GPA, or fail to meet academic
competencies.
- Economically disadvantaged students are often identified through eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch.

Opportunities You'll Have in this Program

  •  Make up credits online or in the classroom

  •  Observe and/or participate in 4 different career-tech programs of your choice

Requirements to be eligible for this program include meeting one of the following requirements:

  • Qualify for free/reduced lunch

  • Failing or at risk of failing a class

  • Have a 2.0 gpa or lower

  • Have a current IEP

When you have completed the program, you will have:

  • Learn what program best suits your interests and skills

  • Priority scheduling for your junior year
